Reinier Landwehr (born 1992 in the Netherlands) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Rotterdam. He produces illustrations, paintings, clothing, sculptures and murals.
Dreams and nightmares are a major theme in his work. It is their elusive nature that fascinates him so much. Dreams offer an alternative reality in which borders, time and any form of truth are absent. Landwehr playfully depicts these characteristics in colourful representations. Smiley faces, plants and flowers are recurring motifs.
The fact that dreams can sometimes have a dark side is often apparent in Landwehr’s work. But by adding humorous elements, he always retains a certain lightness and creates a world full of surprising and seemingly contradictory elements. So there are always new layers and dimensions to discover in his work.
