Since the dawn of Hong Kong’s development in the 19th century, many foreigners have come to this land for various reasons. Some come to take up residence, some are merely passing by and some are stuck here. Being immigrants, these people walk the line that separates the identities of Hong Kong people and non-Hong Kong people. With what notion exactly do they regard our city? How is the promise reached between Man and Land? To what imagination of “home” do they aspire? Can their longing for such a home be fulfilled in this distant land? These are the major questions we wish to address in this exhibition.
