Japanese Handcraft Artist Naozumi Tanaka Solo Exhibition: “WATER”

Gallery tete will host his first Hong Kong solo exhibition from Dec 7 (Sat), titled “WATER”

Born in 1985, Naozumi Tanaka has a kiln set up in a traditional farmhouse in Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, where he creates his works. After years of living and working there, he realized that the natural environment is an essential element of his creativity. A significant aspect of his work is the use of “water.” The water that springs from the mountains, rich in iron and impurities, lends a unique character to his pieces. While his creative inspiration evolves daily, “water” was chosen as the title for this exhibition, symbolizing a new sense of the future.

The exhibition will have his past works, including pieces with a makeup finish, soft silver glaze items, and various tea utensils such as teapots, teacups, covered bowls, pouring vessels, and water containers. The white texture of his works blends with the natural landscape, featuring a unique soft touch and retaining traces of craftsmanship, allowing the pieces to radiate warmth and embody the minimalist beauty suited for everyday use.

He will come from Japan for the first 2 days, please come and join us.
