About Exhibition
Reminiscences is an extension of Maggie Chu’s graduate project Barren Rocks. In this exhibition, the works adopt the form of an archive, consisting of annotations and works inspired by random events took place in the mid-19th century Hong Kong at its critical turning point of fate to date. Barren Rocks Reminiscences spans from the macro lens of the landscape images found in postcards to the profound personal experiences associated with the place. From postcards to imageries, then transformed to unidentifiable grotesque creatures. Finally vanished and leaving traces as an archive. The installation draws on the intricate relationships between information we access about history in the public realm, inquiring the form of representation about a place and intentions of such.
