PMQ Seed – To Open Minds 2024: KIDS IN ACTION

The environmental impact of plastics can no longer be ignored. How might kids participate in the global effort to reduce plastic wastes?

Plastics are the second most common source of Hong Kong’s urban solid waste and a key area of the increasingly urgent issue of waste management. This year’s PMQ Seed, themed “Kids in Action”, is all about re-examining our environment and the plastic products we find everywhere. What sort of changes can kids bring forth when they approach the problem with creative power? Their curiosity and passion for the environment will provide the perfect spark to inspire grownups to take action for our planet.

Through carrying out a series of programmes and events centred on the themes “Reduce”, “Recycle”, “Reuse”, and “Upcycle”, the PMQ Seed programme will guide the kids to learn about and engage with the reduction of plastic waste from a place of empathy and creativity, transforming new ideas into real-world solutions.

Under the support of Create Hong Kong of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the Lead Sponsor, alongside a team of local creative professionals, we will host a variety of programmes this year, including the “Creative Training Class”, “Creative Summer Festival”, “Train the Trainer Workshops” and “Seed Online”. We will also be exhibiting at the Learning and Teaching Expo (LTE). Designed for kids aged 6-14, parents, and educators, PMQ Seed will deliver a playful series of hands-on creative challenges meant to connect knowledge and love for the planet with personal initiative. Join us on this visionary green journey!

This year’s PMQ Seed, kids will use their creativity to respond social issues, our team will host various activities in different districts in Hong Kong.

A series of events will be kicked off in July, and we cordially invite children to participate. Let’s use our creativity to spread the message of environmental protection in this summer! About PMQ Seed
Creativity is a seed—it holds the power to transform and move the world.

In our ever-growing society, with technology changing our lives by the day, creative and human-centered thinking will become increasingly important. We believe that planting the creative seed in the minds of children will contribute significantly towards their cultivation of character and creative thought, as well as growth and development in future society.

Since 2018, PMQ Seed has been collaborating with various local creative and educational organisations to design a series of cross-disciplinary and immersive educational activities, workshops, and exhibitions, with the aim of cultivating design thinking among school children. It is our goal to enrich children’s growth with creative design skills. Furthermore, through the application of human-centered thinking, we hope to learn from our new generation’s perspectives as we reflect on the present and unlock the future.
