An exhibition about women and clothing: hair, legs, ears, ankles, glimpses up a skirt and little sausage toes in peep-toe shoes. I’m interested in the discomfort and vulnerability of wearing a skirt and high heels; the sheer amount of effort involved in dressing up as a woman. I’m looking at the way we look at women’s bodies and wondering, where do I stand in all this?
After a year’s break from exhibiting I have a glut of new work. I decided to take my new paintings out of the studio and give them some room to breath. no romance is going to be a month long process of installing and looking; I’m aiming to find out what these new works are about and how they might be combined to create new narratives and perspectives.
Know more about no romance.
