The FW16 collection is inspired by a Chinese legend of a tragic love story, Butterfly Lovers. A love story about a Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. Zhu disguised herself as a boy and left for an academy. At school, Zhu met a boy called Liang Shanbo, whom she soon befriended and becoming sworn brothers. As the months and the years passed they became inseparable companions, and Zhu realized that she was in love.
This collection, Loom Loop tried to integrate the core feminine look combined with the tailoring structure. It features strongly on prints inspired by the story. The colour palette is a juxtaposition of this legend story with burgundy and dark forest colour. The butterfly motif provides a focus on prints; Loom Loop favours both the all in one look in the same print and the mixing of the prints.
True to Loom Loop’s philosophy the key look is relaxed yet expressive. The use of the most luxury silk in the tailoring adds fluidity to the otherwise clean lines and structured silhouette. To complement the feminine palette a hint of masculinity is conveyed in the tubular shapes of the dresses.
In contrast to the statement prints the collection also features pieces crafted in Canton silk, that are minimalist with subtle detailing and block colouring which accentuate the characteristics of this artisan fabric and allows this heritage fabric speaks for itself.
