A Studio combines fashion design with Cyanotype. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print that can be so attractive and has high flexibility.
A new aesthetic can be explored and developed during the “trial and error” printing process of Cyanotype. Everyone can design their own print for their clothes, hats, shoes, and leather accessories with this technique.
Sir John Herschel, a friend of Atkins and Children, invented the cyanotype photographic process in 1842. Within a year, Atkins applied the process to algae (specifically, seaweed) by making cyanotype photograms that were contact printed “by placing the unmounted dried-algae original directly on the cyanotype paper”.
Today, Cyanotype can be applied in making fashion prints.
