【Craig’s Nomadic Kitchen: Dining in a world of Azulejo】
In May, Craig showed us the simplicity of village life in Chayuancun, Zhejiang. For the June’s session, Craig will share his experience of his recent trip to Portugal. Eight years ago, Craig worked up his appetite by having various Portuguese signature dishes such as Pastel de nata (an egg tart pastry) at a monastery where it was invented, Leitão (a roasted piglet) at a remote town, and also Arroz de Marisco (the seafood rice) made with a generous amount of ingredients at a local restaurant. What’s more was listening to Fado until late at night….
These experiences become part of his unforgettable memories. Due to his growing passion for blue and white porcelain, he travelled to Portugal again in April this year, browsing collections of exported china made during Ming and Qing Dynasty, appreciating an exquisite form of painted tilework called Azulejo in his visit to the cities Gaia and Porto, where the famous blue tiles played an great role in forming the everyday life aesthetics. Craig’s Nomadic Kitchen this time will bring everyone more interesting stories for sharing. Craig will prepare a secret dish made with a local ingredient that may sound very familiar to you! If you would like to know more about Portuguese culture and cuisine, remember to register for the coming Craig’s Nomadic Kitchen!
Language: This demo will be conducted in both English and Cantonese
