Since it was created in the 1920s Art Deco jewellery has captivated design enthusiasts with elegant geometrical lines and bold color combinations. Jazz, flappers, Egyptian and Asian aesthetics, platinum and diamond cutting machines, all had a massive influence upon the legacy of Art Deco jewellery design. Meanwhile art such as Cubism, Futurism, and the Machine Aesthetic also had an impact on the jewellery being created. This seminar will focus on all of these influences and provide a visual introduction into Art Deco as both an art and design movement. Participants will learn about important jewellery designers, key periods, and how “newly found” gemstones like lapis lazuli, coral, onyx, and quartz transformed the jewellery industry. This seminar is a combination of art history with jewellery appreciation. Participants will enjoy the rich history and the beautiful photos of Art Deco art and jewellery design!
*Includes a complimentary $100 Loupe Teahouse cash voucher will be offered per pax for enrolment in this workshop.
