Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) once again cooperated with PMQ, to take a group of young artists and their works across the habour, to showcase as a microcosm of our Shek Kip Mei artists village at PMQ. We hope more people will get to appreciate the unique yet familiar artistic language of Hong Kong’s young artists and to discover the joy of collecting their works.

Presented by JCCAC, “Art Chong In Lane” – Hong Kong Young Artist Series combines art exhibitions, creative workshops and a curated product showcase all under one roof. Almost like creating a mini/taster version of the JCCAC arts village, the exhibition in two episodes – featuring three JCCAC artists in each – will run from September 6 to 29 and October 4 to 27 at PMQ.

About the artists and their works at Second episode:

“Before We Touch the Ground”: If you were suspended in mid-air, where would you want to land when you get tired? While enjoying the freedom of floating, do you also yearn for the stability of connection? Artist Coco Ray uses the suspended figure to explore connections between people, the places they occupy, and the world around them.

“More Than Just a Fish”: Plastic fishing toys symbolize the childhood of many. Have you ever imagined the day when the little fish could escape the fish pond and swim into the vast ocean? As the years go by, have you been confined by the various constraints of life and lost your curiosity about the unknown? Artist Carmen So breathes new life into the toys, narrating the journey of breaking out of limitations and exploring possibilities.

“The Way of Instinction”: The coexistence of humans and nature has been a subject of study since ancient times. Humans both revere and fear nature, taking from it and giving back, yet finding it difficult to escape the laws of nature. This relationship is delicate and full of inspiration. Artist Wenda Yiu showcases the uniqueness and power of nature through her works, from which she discerns the ways for humans and nature to harmoniously coexist.

To enhance visitors’ appreciation of the exhibition and to share the joy of art-making, various workshops are on offer.
