Known as the land of forests, over 20% of the land in Kumamoto prefecture terrain is protected by national parks. The reason for such bountiful nature is Kumamoto’s dynamic and diverse landscape: to the west, Amakusa, a chain of lush sub-tropical islands reaching out into the Japan sea, to the east, the mountains of Aso; the largest inhabited volcanic caldera in the world; in the center and to the north and south dense forests on the high lands and vast agricultural plains on the low.
Prefecture’s mascot Kumamon was introduced in 2012 to promote the launch of Shinkansen train line to Kumamoto city and has since accumulate following so huge, that it is now known “Japan’s most famous bear”.
This December we’ve prepared a special lineup of products from this beautiful area of Japan, including local seafood, mineral water from Japan’s biggest active volcano – Mount Aso, nutricious amazake and soups made using the famously delicious local vegetables.
Our Kumamoto product tastings will be running on the weekends all month long and are free for everyone to join and experience the taste of Kumamoto in Hong Kong!
