Theory & Practise of Quarantine Measures & Possibility for Post-COVID Tourism
Quarantine Tourism” reframes the problem posed by the pandemic as an architectural opportunity – To imagine a hybrid typology combining tourism & quarantine that forms Pandemic Buffer Zones in the urban-rural fringe: facilitating temporary occupation of meditative ‘staycation’ and doubling as quarantine facilities during pandemics. Through mapping research, case studies of quarantine establishments in Hong Kong , past and foreign isolation typologies, this research formulates proposals for the hybrid programme of “Quarantine Tourism” and other possible improvements on existing quarantine facilities.
