Since May 2018, PMQ Creative Voice has been organising a series of dialogues to gather creatives from all walks of life. Together, we hope to discover good design, discuss latest insights and strengthen connections amongst the design and creative community.
Beyond serving coffee, coffee shops are places where city people meet and connect with each other. This year, PMQ’s design dialogue programme Creative Voice is joining hands with the annual coffee festival PMQ Coffee Agenda! Four creatives and coffee shop owners will share how coffee shops can transcend boundaries and become a Third Place, which allows flexible usage, promotes social connection and inspires creativity.
Can you imagine a design studio could be extended into a coffee shop, exhibition venue and cultural space? Runners open a coffee shop providing drinks, light meals, sports accessories so they could create a gathering spot for all the runners in town? A historical Hong Kong-style cafe transformed into an experimental platform that blends the old and new?
Come and hear stories about their journey from starting a coffee shop, to designing the spatial aesthetics and curating events, how they connect the community and expand the possibilities of transforming the coffee shop space. There will also be coffee tasting at the sharing, don’t miss it!

About Taion Coffee and Tea:
In 2022, the half-century-old Taion Coffee and Tea in Yau Ma Tei was preserved. The original atmosphere was deliberately preserved while creativity was also injected. The goal is to become a Hong Kong-style CAFÉ with authentic characteristics and respect for Hong Kong culture. Taion Coffee and Tea is willing to serve as an experimental platform where the younger generation and older neighbours can interact and communicate, and where foreign tourists can experience the old and new cultures of Hong Kong.
