You might have heard of ‘Kaffee und Kuchen’ (“coffee and cake”), a gathering enjoyed by Germans, traditionally in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. But did you know there’s a name for this type of social gathering? Germans call it a Kaffeeklatsch (“coffee gossip”).

Not only is Germany the country with the largest coffee consumption in Europe, many German vocabs are related to “coffee”. For instance, die Kaffeekasse (thank-you-box for tips), die Kaffeepause (coffee break), die Kaffeekanne (coffee pot), der Kaffeelöffel (teaspoon)…

During the workshop, our barista Mandy will serve coffee using German-designed coffee tools while the German Consulate General Hong Kong will share about German coffee, vocabs, culture and much more!
