The seminar will discuss about the traditional role of Jewellery, including the traditional and historical use of materials, such as precious materials and stones. There will be an introduction about what Jewellery means in todays’ context, continuing with a focus on the development of Jewellery from the 1960s and how art and individualism played an important role in Jewellery design.
Designer’s Background:
Born in USA and raised in Hong Kong, Lydia Siu’s designs echo her own multi-cultural upbringing and the exotic integration of grandiose Eastern and Western concepts and ideologies. Working with the likes of the internationally renowned Vivienne Westwood and Stephen Webster, the Jewellery design company heralded for its cutting edge and remarkable designs, Lydia’s career flourished. Lydia graduated from the MA Design: Jewellery at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, and is Gemological Institute of America (GIA) qualified in Graduate Color Stones and Pearl Grading.
