From temple to school, from school to living quarters, from quarters to knowledge and creative hub, this is a place for people to connect and learn about the universe. People started connecting the sky in a religious venue, talking to the god and making wishes. And then knowledge drove people to explore more of the universe, we started connecting the sky in school – This is a venue to connect the sky and correlated ourselves with the universe.
Borrowing the architectural form of Shing Wong Temple and The Government Central School: open ended, with a gate and a rounded form, Heliocentric is a light sculpture representing the movement of the universe. It carries out dialogues to its history and functionality. With the lighting arrangement, kinetic movement of the light, and the performer, it displays the close relationship between the universe, knowledge and human.
