22 local artists showcase their unique perspectives on Hong Kong

Organized by Commercial Radio, FM 903, “THIS THIS Exhibition” will take place at the Odds and Ends Gallery at PMQ in Central from August to September this year, with the themes of “The Glowing Light 這微光” and “The Journey 這長途”. Lining up 22 local artists from 20 local art units, the Exhibition showcases a breadth of exceptional art using various mediums, such as painting, ceramic, installation, photography, and even art toy. Admission is free and there will be no art sales, FM 903 hopes that the Exhibition allows the public to immerse themselves in a unique cultural and artistic experience, appreciating the creativity of the local artists.

Over the past five years, the team behind FM 903’s programme “Zine” as well as the website “my903.com” have visited various art exhibitions in town and consistently asked the local artists a question: “Which art piece of yours is related to or inspired Hong Kong?”. The concept of “THIS THIS Exhibition” is originated from this particular question because every artist has their own interpretations and perspectives towards this city, which are reflected in their art pieces. Seriousness, liveliness, concerns, or hope are revealed through their arts, and expands the audience’s imagination to redefine perceptions of our city.

Curator Amber Au 急急子 said, “The name of the Exhibition “THIS THIS” can be interpreted as ‘THIS TIME, THIS PLACE,’ referring to how local artists view Hong Kong at a particular time and this city via their creativities. Through this Exhibition, we hope to show everyone the creations of local artists, encompassing different artistic mediums and artists from different age groups. We also hope to raise public awareness and support towards the artists who have stayed here and have been working hard for the cultural industry.” Amber also invited participating artists to take a photo with their artwork at a specific location in Hong Kong which is chosen by the artists; these visuals will also be showcased at the Exhibition.
