Join Mr. Paul Chan, HKSAR Secretary of Development, and our esteemed panel of urban design leaders for the first AIA Hong Kong Quarterly of 2015. This is the first of four special events this year, curated and hosted by AIA Hong Kong to showcase the most pressing issues affecting our built environment today.
THE CULTURAL TRIANGLE
An explosion of culture, art, commerce, and lifestyle has gripped this triangular district-within-a-district in central Hong Kong, setting it apart from the nearby glass and steel business Mecca that characterizes most of what we see today. Over the past two decades, a growing public outcry to save the area’s cultural and heritage sites led to the “Conserving Central” program to promote adaptive reuse of buildings, as announced by the HK SAR Chief Executive in 2009.
