From a spark of awareness to a series of actions, where our behaviour is gradually formed over time until it becomes part of the routine. It becomes our “always”. Likewise, it starts with a thought or an idea to make a positive impact on the environment.

The ‘always’ exhibition explores sustainability beyond the material level from a new perspective, that can also be escalated to the spiritual, cultural and heritage level of discussion. Through visiting the exhibition and participating a series of themed free-of-charge activities.

Visitors may appreciate our local creative power and know how design inspires a continuous innovation process, ensuring the sustainable and prosperous development of the city.

2023.1.7【always】“Story of a Garbage Planet” Parents & Kids Workshop

Once upon a time, there were great mountains, ocean, beautiful flowers and trees in the planet. However, because of the ignorant human being, the nature gradually turned into a concrete jungle……

In fact, most of the garbage is diamond in the rough. If we focus more on reusing the old materials and extending the life of the old stuff, we can definitely contribute more to reducing the wastage.

In Design Spectrum’s ‘Story of a Garbage Planet’ workshop, we used a lot of daily utensils or disposable packaging to create new things. The workshop can stimulate the participating kids’ observation and imagination. It also guides the kids to a3R and environmentally friendly practice.

“Sustainability has massively risen in popularity over the years with no doubt. The application of sustainable materials is becoming more common in different industries, and more local companies are committed to integrating sustainability into their operation and business strategy.

Design Spectrum collaborates with Material Resource Centre to invite representatives from local companies, namely CaSO Engineering (HK) Company Limited, Antalis (Hong Kong) Ltd and BD8 Ecoplastics Limited, ONIX, together with Benny Au, curator of “always” Exhibition, to share the latest updates on sustainable materials and explore the possibility of sustainable development in Hong Kong.”

2023.1.14【always】Design Spectrum X Taste Library: Explore CNY Taste through Wandering Local Markets
How many local markets have you visited? Design Spectrum invited Craig Au Yeung, PMQ Taste Library curator and Edward Yip, “19-Generator” to share the story of the book “19 Wanders in Local Markets”, and will invite participants to prepare ingredients of the traditional CNY dish – Buddha’s Delight (Lo Han Jai) before the workshop. In this workshop, participants will share their stories of shopping at wet markets and explore the heritage of local food culture.
