This exhibition circles around the artist’s question about perfection. The Hong Kong-based artist, LAM Ka Yin, aims at making a perfect porcelain cube. To achieve that, she has made more than a hundred pieces.
With continuous explorations, tests, failures and adjustments, LAM is still striving for an absolutely perfect cube out of the kiln. By showing all the pieces that she has made, the exhibition demonstrates the challenges of making and attempts a reading of the concept of perfection.
【Functional Ware Exhibition】
Alongside the exhibition “Cube”, the artist is also showing her recent functional wares (inside Sake Central, Block A, PMQ)
About the Artist
LAM Ka Yin graduated with a BA Visual Arts (Hons) at Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2016. Her works revolve around simple geometric forms and the nature of ceramics. She uses that as a starting point to explore different contradictions in life and to understand the order of our society. Participated exhibitions include group exhibitions “The Next” (Useless Studio, Hong Kong, 2020), “9×9” (1a Space, Hong Kong, 2017) and “Fresh Trend” (Hong Kong City Hall, 2016).
