You may probably know Mr. Craig Au-Yeung Ying Chai as being a gourmet and the curator of PMQ Taste Library. In fact, he is also one of the leading artists in the Chinese comics art scene. His published comix works, such as ‘ love kills’, ‘Siu Ming’, ’3721′ and ‘out of the blur’, are widely recognized by comic book enthusiasts. Apart from being a comics artist, he is a comics art critic, editor of comics-related periodicals, and also a curator of numerous comix exhibitions in Hong Kong , Taiwan and China over the years.
These overlapping roles naturally inspire Craig to play with the thought of combining food and comics. He features international and local food ingredients, culinary skills and food trends in his comix works. And there begins the idea of ‘Craig’s Comic Kitchen’ – putting these themed comics and food together in a form of cooking demonstration.
As the Ambassador for Slow Food Great China, Craig incorporated the concept of slow food into single panel cartoons for readers to taste the irony, humour and goodness of daily lives. In this session, Craig will show some of the cartoons and prepare dishes that are featured in them. If you would like to taste the dish in person and get inspirations for creating your own comix work, this month’s ‘Craig’s Comic Kitchen’ is not to be missed!
Language: This demo will be conducted mainly in Cantonese
